Majalengka, W Java (ANTARA) – The Kertajati West Java International Airport (BIJB) management in Majalengka, West Java, ensured that the renovation to all facilities can be completed before October 29, 2023, and will not interfere with the airport opening.
“It is under renovation. It will be finished on October 29,” PT BIJB President Director Muhammad Singgih commented here on Sunday.
He explained that the facility improvement is being carried out to welcome the start of commercial flights in late October.
Singgih stated that the facilities and infrastructure at BIJB Kertajati are generally ready to be used by prospective passengers.
Upon opening, the Kertajati Airport will serve seven routes, namely Makassar, Denpasar, Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Kualanamu, Batam, and Palembang.
He said the airport management has been promoting the airport and inviting people to try flying from Kertajati Airport to their destinations.
“Initially, there are seven flight routes (from Kertajati), and this is developing,” he said.
Furthermore, Singgih explained that all tenants at Kertajati Airport will be reopened following the full operation of the airport.
“Tenants will operate too. Basically, they have already operated here. They will reopen on October 29,” he said.
In addition, his side has coordinated with a number of local tourism offices to make the surrounding regions become buffer areas.
He hopes that the nearby regions can benefit from the opening of commercial flights at Kertajati Airport.
According to earlier information, AirAsia Indonesia, Super Air Jet, and Citilink, are the airlines that will serve flights from/to the airport.
“The (number of passengers) is developing, but I ensure that the flights are there,” Singgih said.
Previously, two local governments, namely the Cirebon District Government and the Cirebon City Government, said they were open to potential investors, especially in the tourism sector, following the planned full operation of the Kertajati Airport.
